MARIA JOSÉ CORNEJO

Maria José Cornejo has more than 10 years of experience working as a researcher for NGOs, public institutions and international organizations in El Salvador. Her work is mainly on topics dealing with citizen security, education, dialogue, and human rights. Her most recent research interest involves the exploration of dialogue between illegal actors (gangs) and citizens in at risk urban communities in El Salvador, for which she conducted field work as a PhD Student from the University of Kent. Maria has a Master’s degree in International Political Economy from the University of Tsukuba, Japan and a Bachelors in Political Science from the University of the Ozarks, U.S.  She is currently working in the Non-Profit Sector in the area of education development.
