Noufal Abboud

Noufal Abboud is the Founder and CEO of the Nordic Center for Conflict Transformation. Originally from Morocco and also a Swedish national, he has over 15 years of experience working with diverse teams and managing multiple programs.

Mr. Abboud is a seasoned professional in conflict transformation, transitional justice, democracy processes, and human rights. He has led innovative and transformative programs across the Middle East, North Africa, the Sahel region, and Southeast Asia, managing a portfolio exceeding $160 million.

He has specialized expertise in security processes, particularly in counterterrorism, violent extremism, and the rehabilitation of detainees and returning fighters. His work focuses on gaining a deeper understanding of the root causes of violence through innovative, context-specific programs.

Mr. Abboud has directed conflict transformation initiatives in prisons in Morocco, Mali, and Niger. He has also overseen the design, monitoring, and evaluation of peacebuilding programs aimed at reducing violence, empowering women, and strengthening community resilience. Additionally, he has supervised research on violent extremism and terrorism in Mali, Morocco, Niger, and Yemen, as well as social media campaigns that have reached millions.

As a communication strategist and public speaker, he possesses strong diplomatic skills and is fluent in English, French, and Arabic, both written and spoken.

Mr. Abboud holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Human Rights from Mahidol University in Thailand.
